Description
Temple on a Hill Where Cherry Blossoms Bloom is a Japanese style illustration evoking the ukiyo-e style imagery from Japanese woodblock prints and paintings. I have always admired the traditional woodblock printing technique particularly those from the ukiyo-e period and wished to create a similar image in my own style. As in a lot of Japanese art, the seasons are frequently depicted and the Japan’s iconic sakura (cherry blossoms) are a striking visual to visitors and locals alike. I also wanted to give it a very literal descriptive title like many of the Japanese woodblock prints of the time.
